july 2, 1776 independence day
Published Jul. 3, 2008Did you know that the true Indepenence Day falls on July 2, 1776?
This is the day that the Continental Congress declared independence from Great Britian. It was not until July 4, 1776 that the document declaring that independence, written by Thomas Jefferson, was adopted. That document was not even signed by most delegates until August 2, 1776.
