revolving door policy???

COLUMBIA, S.C. — More than 14,000 illegal immigrants have been deported from North and South Carolina and Georgia in the past eight months, according to federal immigration officials."The fact of the matter is that our officers deport people every day. Deportations are up every year. I attribute that to increased activities by the agency and increased resources," Barbara Gonzalez, a regional spokeswoman for the U.S. Immigration Customs and Enforcement agency, told The Greenville News.Federal agents find out about illegal immigrants in several different ways. Some jails screen all their prisoners and notify agents when they find someone in the country illegally. Others are caught in workplace raids or by fugitive teams.Federal officials said 14,118 illegal immigrants in South Carolina, North Carolina and Georgia have been deported by the federal government since Oct. 1.

Old reb has one on this subject as well but we are stating that this is about two issues as well.  I'm asking if this will be the legal way we tend to handle our immigration problem.  Is it going to be named revolving door policy like those credit card company. LOL  Old reb is talking about economic impact..........Personally I think the two relate well..........

machine gun nests and land mine fields along our southern border would be a great deterant also. Even that would not be enough though. An insecure border eqates to an insecure population. How can you have homeland security without securing the homeland. Who does the Fed gov. think they are fooling. They are either morons, or they think the population of this country is a bunch of morons. I say, the masses probaly are morons because they have been taking the lies the feds keep dishing out but I would appreciate it if they would stop insulting my intelligence. Bush doesn't want to boycott the olympics because that would insult them but he has no problem insulting the citizens of this country with his stupid thoughts

atozca - I used to do a lot of work with the local INS folks. Trust me, two things they didn't mess around with: illegals with weapons (5 year felony) and illegal re-entry.

That was about 5 years ago, but I doubt they've changed much. They were good people doing a tough job of overwhleming porportions and they did the best that they could.

Do you know they get thrown out in federal court, since there is no system set up for them to verify those ID's.

Unbelievable. i wouldn't doubt it one bit if it's government led..........

Employers are required to file the I-9 form, that you showed your state ID and your SSN card when you get hired. However, the feds have never made any allowance for the employers to be able to access the database to see if that person is legal or not.

It has been less than a year since the feds have given prisons, local jails and sheriff's (not local pd)the authority to access the immigration database.

So, they idiots in DC will come up with another knee jerking feel good proposal, but still leaves the private employers with no way to verify if your ID is legit or not.

So keep making arrests, keep charging Wal Mart and the others with hiring violations. Do you know they get thrown out in federal court, since there is no system set up for them to verify those ID's.

bones - I find that a little hard to believe. Illegal re-entry is a felony with a 5 year mandatory minimum sentence. They don't just deport them the second time around - they send them to the ol' stoney lonesome for five years. OS

Unfortunately, OS, they will deport them for the second time around and let them be free to sneak back in and have 7 dwi's in our country and kill the mother and father of anna and dave who were then 2 and 3 years old. Sad reality.

LOL at bones. When will we wake up I don't care what political party you are. Common sense folks. That lady who lived by my sister told in paper how she worked here 12 yrs, a reg job in furniture plant and mcdonalds in evening, lived with shared expenses like 8-10 to family, saved enough to build mansion in Mexico pd in full and her being OK to be the boss for a while. Now that sounds like a good deal to me. IMO Our laws and feeling sorry for everyone else image has created a mess... just a mess...As America economy drops and Mexico's opens, you will find that one day we too may need to be asking them into their country to work. We already got China running neck and neck with us, as well as India, and I hear some Central American countries are picking up steam...What happens when our image drops to second or third. Enough countries have wished this.

well yall best sit down for this....one of the places i work...has mexicans ..cheap labor....one tells me when he wants to go home....he just gets deported...free ride home...he just flys back in later when he decides to come back to the states....now that is a total racket. did you get that he flys back in?

Has anyone figured the costs of deportation? The article states between $600 to $700 depending on destination. So take 14,118 illegals and multiply by the lower cost ($600) and we have spent over $8.47 million in the last eight months. The hardworking taxpayer just cannot win....

"OS I believe that there is corruption too in the ss administration. It's easier to get fake duplicates and etc through the system with all the computers we have than in older times........."

If Visa can keep track of my numbers, then I dam well expect Social Security to do the same.
