bye summertime! and in other news....we got double trouble brewing

Published Aug. 30, 2008

This has been a very good summer for me!  I hope everyone else can say the same. In about three weeks the thermometer is gonna start dropping and dropping and dropping...to the point of having to fire up that ole oil-thristy furance. If not oil, then whatever it feeds off of. May be gas or electricity. For me though, I have my very first wood fireplace. And you can bet that I will be cranking up that little hole in the wall in order to save money.

NOW...speaking of the heating bills, and add the gasoline prices as the main topic... If you need to fill up your oil or propane tanks for the winter's coming coldness, then NOW is the time to order it. ASAP! We have two storms brewing, and both (one for certain) are heading towards the Gulf Of Mexico where oil rigs await their arrival. In the next very few days, expect a major hike in the cost of these two resources...all the way down to the gas pumps for your vehicle.

Looking ahead...I foresee a major increase in fuel costs. Yeap, these hurricanes are gonna stir up the prices we pay for heating and gasoline. NOW is the time to fill them tanks up to the brim. Otherwise, when it comes time you have to fill them up, you will be paying dearly for it.

Gustav might grow into a MONSTER storm considering the conditions are ripe for development. And hot on it's trail is Hanna...at the moment is even a BIGGER storm than Gustav. Man ole man....next week ain't gonna be no picnic for the Gulf coast residents at all. And if they both hit near each other, OH MY!

Man, the eye of that H is HUGE!!!! Someone is going to get REALLY wet!!

I can understand you wanting a good old wood fire.

But I don't want you to be shocked when you find out the cost of wood, how fast it burns and what a mess it is.

Did you make sure your chimney is clean and good to go?

I bet you're right about the cost of firewood. But I still plan on buying some. I'd much rather pay a local guy for my heating fuel than some big oil company that's over-charging us all for something we have to have.

Check out this hurricane. It getting huge!!! Oh my...someone's gonna get it bad!

Made, you may be surprised at how much wood costs and how fast it burns.

No BUBBLES...no wood yet. I can't stockpile it like I want to. I live in a condo and they have restrictions on the amount we can have on our balconies. BUT I think I can stockpile it elsewhere, like at work maybe, or a friends house.

Cottontownrambler...I agree with you. ANYTHING that oil companies can use as a way to charge us more, they will. Even if it's bogus reasoning. Very much like the stock market.

TruBlue....Gosh I hope that doesn't happen. But you might be right...one way or another. If not us pumping up the oil out of the Artic ground, it will be the Russians...just a little futher north. They have already claimed it part of their contiental shelf.

Braintreebrat...You might be right on the money. When Reagan went in back in the 80's, oil shot up immediately after the elections and has been going up ever since.

Good morning.

Do you have any wood stocked up yet?

Katrina did not do as much damage to these awaiting oil rigs as fore seen.and after Katrina was long and gone, these rigs were up and running in no time. I Do not see some kind of oil rig devistation coming. Either way, it will be a reason for the Big-0il companies to raise. This i do agree with.

Looking ahead, I foresee the Northern Slope of Alaska (thats everything north of Fairbanks all the way to Barrow/Thunder Bay for those of you that are not familiar with the term) filled with oil rigs.....just after November 1. I foresee crowds of Democratic Party bunny huggers, polar bear lovers, movie stars, and "entertainment" industry hippies holding their heads in their hands going "but our messiah, he promised, he promised." *sigh*...sucks to be you....
