way to go mccain

Published Aug. 30, 2008

McCain did a great choice on picking governor Palin as his running mate. I think it was a slap in the face to the dems. If only they had a magic mirror and they could have seen into the future, they could have picked hillary. But you know what I say, tough tiddy but the milk still sweeeet!!! And on her not having experience, I much rather have the VP going to the president for advice and not the president going to the VP for advice. Won't that be what Obama will be doing with Biden.

More Palin info:

-She was elected Alaska's governor just over a year and a half ago. Her previous office was mayor of Wasilla, a small town outside Anchorage. She has no foreign policy experience. -Palin is strongly anti-choice, opposing abortion even in the case of rape or incest. -She supported right-wing extremist Pat Buchanan for president in 2000. -Palin thinks creationism should be taught in public schools. -She's doesn't think humans are the cause of climate change. -She's solidly in line with John McCain's "Big Oil first" energy policy. She's pushed hard for more oil drilling and says renewables won't be ready for years. She also sued the Bush administration for listing polar bears as an endangered species—she was worried it would interfere with more oil drilling in Alaska. -How closely did John McCain vet this choice? He met Sarah Palin once at a meeting. They spoke a second time, last Sunday, when he called her about being vice-president. Then he offered her the position.

I think he made an excellent choice. Proves he's all about appearances, and not at all about substance. He could've gone for Hutchinson, if he wanted an experienced female candidate. But he went for the soccer mom. Um... yeah. Whatever. LOL

I think McCain's choice was a brilliant move, i like her, she is exactly what McCain needs and what the country needs, it was a sucker punch right in the Dems face, all of their "more of the same" mantra went right down the tubes along with their chance of winning this election, I heard this morning that Palin vetoed more than 300 bills for pork barrel spending projects, thats what I want to hear, she isn't afraid of the establishment and if thats not "change" i dont know what is.

Both Palin and Obama are young and with less experience than you might want for a President/Vice-President. Palin's experience is much more directly applicable to the the Office of President, however. Her two years as Governor trumps Obama's three in the Senate. Her experience in challenging the status quo and corruption along with McCain's maverick attitude also represents more potential for real change than Obama's party line liberal voting record and Biden's part of the entrenched Democratic Congressional leadership. When I hear Obama call for new Democratic leadership in Congress and replacement of the long serving partisans of Pelosi, Hoyer, Reid, Durbin, then perhaps I will believe there is a smidgen of reality to his call for change in Washington. That crew has had many opportunities to effect change and have failed.

Palin is a quick learner and will rapidly learn what she needs to backup McCain. The choice is clear, McCain/Palin.

I'm with you too CTR...

I think many Democrats are quite pleased with McCain's choice.

" If only they had a magic mirror and they could have seen into the future, they could have picked hillary."

If the Democrats had picked Hilary, they would have alienated a LOT of people who just don't particularly care for her. I'd love to see a woman in office, but for me, it's more about the *right* woman, and being the right choice for me has more to do with just your gender.

Had McCain picked a more moderate VP, I would seriously be considering voting for him. I liked the moderate McCain of the past, and I think a middle of the road veep selection would've signaled that he wanted to appeal to a moderate base. The selection of Palin, however, makes a ticket that I just can't get behind - as much as I respect another strong female, she's completely out of line with how I feel about some very important issues.

Hillary women who like strong women might go to Palin,

but the ABORTION champs will NEVER vote for Palin or McCain.

Cotton I'm with you.

One of the few things I like about Obama is the same thing I like about Palin--inexperience. In a country that used to be kind of free and strives to be so again some day, we should want nothing but inexperienced politicians elected to office--they're the best kind for a free society. I discuss it at my blog: http://nocoercion.com
