Hello! My name is Donna and I found out today that I am officially a diabetic.
I am looking for other diabetics or caregivers of diabetics to share recipes. Any type of support or helpful hints are welcome.
I live with 2 diabetics, so I know a lot about this disease. My husband is currently on an insulin pump and I have to give my autistic brother 2 shots a day.
But...just because I am well-informed does not mean that I practice what I preach.

I found out today that I am officially a diabetic. My A1C was 10.1.
A great friend suggested that I start a group and share recipes and whatever else is helpful. I do not take care of myself like I should because I always take care of others. But today is my new beginning! I have to get my health straight because my family needs me and I need them. So I am going to fix ME so I'll be around for a while...

My sugar has dropped the last 2 evenings at the same time. Last night it was 56 and tonight it was 59. I knew it, too.

Diabetes is one of those diseases that is angry, glad, depressionary, and hungry.
I have gotten to the point where I know what my blood sugar is by how I feel. It is strange but I rarely miss it by 10 on the meter.
Good luck - and BTW - Sugar Free Sweets don't necessarily help you with diabetes. Like the Murray Cookies - they have a higher carbohydrate number than the regular cookies.

I have also ventured into the Banana puddings with the sugar free vanilla wafers and sugar free puddings, but I really prefer merengue over whipped cream, Has anyone used the splenda to make merengue?
