What makes a great downtown? A lot of things do including an inspirational look, adequate parking, affordable housing, a mix of retail and restaurants, friendly streets, cultural amenities and coordinated aesthetics.
Here are some of my favorites: Mount Airy, Asheville, Apex, Pinehurst, Southern Pines, Beaufort and Highlands.
