Awards & Recognition:

News Philosophy:
News is about people. If we can make it relevant to the lives of the people in our community, we have done half of our jobs. The other half is making sure that information is accurate and pertinent.
Education:
Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications, 1986, University of South Florida, Tampa, Fla.
Birthplace:
St. Thomas, Virgin Islands
Hobbies, Interests & Community Involvement:
Tennis, reading, hiking
Family:
Son, Jamard, three sisters, a brother. Parents, aunts and uncles who still reside in St. Thomas
Favorite Books & Movies:
I enjoy poetry and books about history. I'm a huge fan of authors James Patterson and Lee Childs. I'm a hopeless romantic at heart and a big fan of old movies, which explains why my favorite movies include "Casablanca" and "An Affair to Remember."
Likes Best About North Carolina:
That the coast is a couple of hours away in one direction, and the mountains are a few hours in the other direction.
Most Memorable Assignments:
Covering the news gives us an opportunity to have a front-row seat to memorable events in our community and sometimes around the world. I was given such an opportunity covering the battle in Iraq. I considered it an honor and a privilege to tell the stories of the troops waiting in Kuwait to head to the frontlines and the Fort Bragg troops stationed in Mosul, Iraq.
